Rooney, who is fairly new to the punditry gig after only retiring in 2021, was first into the BBC studio and was in a mischievous mood before working on the Netherlands vs France clash.
As he got ready for the coverage to begin, Rooney sat in Shearer's seat in an attempt to wind the former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers striker up.
"You've been relegated, Al," Rooney said before quickly moving when Shearer entered the studio.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Having only hung up his boots in 2021, Rooney is pretty new to punditry. Much of his post-playing days have been spent on the coaching side of things, after taking charge of Derby County, DC United, Birmingham City and now Plymouth Argyle.

WHAT NEXT FOR ROONEY?
Rooney will continue to work as a pundit across Euro 2024 before it ends on July 14. The Plymouth boss will then shift his focus to pre-season with the Pilgrims, who avoided relegation from the Championship by just a single point last season.
